Tonight’s LOST Will Be Unbelievably Amazing

Tonights LOST Will Be Unbelievably Amazing tv shows

OK, maybe we shouldn’t set expectations too high (like we did last week). But we probably should. Tonight’s episode, entitled “The Life And Death of Jeremy Bentham,” will finally reveal what the hell happened to Locke from when he pushed the donkey wheel to when he met his apparent death. It should be a contained, epic saga, and a Locke tour-de-force (perhaps another Terry O’Quinn Emmy nom will be in order). Mythological characters we love are all going to pop up. Questions will be answered. And the episode will be extended 6 minutes long, making it even more epic. The producers have said that this episode kind of serves as the finale to the first act of Season Five, and we Lost fans know how well this show ends its “acts.” Click on for some spoilery video clips, and an incredible fan-made video scored to The Killers’ “All These Things That I’ve Done.” Continue reading →

LOST Recap: “316″

LOST Recap: 316 tv showsSPOILERS AHEAD!

“We’re not going to Guam, are we.”

Good call, Frank- we’re not going anywhere near Guam. We’re going back to the island with Ben and the Oceanic 6, and it seems like that’s where we’ll stay for a while now.

It’s a good thing, too. While tonight’s episode answered a couple of overarching questions, for the most part it lagged due to the fact that the island is more interesting than the real world. So it’s nice to know that all of our favorites (save for Desmond and Penny) are back on mystery island, LOST once more. Click on for a review/recap of this week’s ep. Continue reading →

Lost 5.4 Recap- “The Little Prince”

Lost 5.4 Recap The Little Prince tv shows

LOST is, and continues to be, an epic puzzle that grows more and more complex with every episode. But still, true fans believe in the producer’s promises that the mysteries and mythology will be solved, eventually. In season five, as the castaways time-travel on the island and scheme off of it, the pieces are starting to come together, the island’s history is being explored, and television’s best characters keep it grounded at the center. This is what differentiates LOST from any other show on television. It can jump the shark (or nuke the fridge, move the island, whatever you want to call it) as many times as it wants, but at some point, you just know it’s all going to be explained, and that the characters are still the driving force behind the plot- as funny (Sawyer), exciting (Sayid), and manipulative (Ben) as ever. Tonight’s episode, the fourth of LOST’s mind-blowing fifth season, maintains this great formula, with some great character development, on-island and off-island intrigue, and the first chill-inducing moment of the year. Spoilers ahead, tread lightly. Continue reading →

The REAL MTV- Music On TV

The REAL MTV Music On TV mp3

You go, Gossip Girl!

They only used three songs in “You’ve Got Yale,” Gossip Girl’s 16th episode of season two, but boy were they good ones. A doubling up of Cold War Kids awesomeness (”Mexican Dogs” and album opener, “Against Privacy”), along with an actual song called “The Double” by We Fell To Earth.

If you don’t have Loyalty To Loyalty yet, but you enjoyed the Kids’ last effort, what are you waiting for? The album may get too drawn out at times, and it may not have the same magic of Robbers And Cowards, but it’s still worth a listen or a ton.

The LIST:

Adam’s Best of 2008

Best Songs of 2008

1. “Skinny Love,” Bon Iver- This acoustic ballad is one of the most brilliant, haunting songs you’ll ever hear. While I didn’t love Bon Iver’s complete album as much as everyone else does, this song is a stunner, and the best of the year.

2. “White Winter Hymnal,” Fleet Foxes- The Fleet Foxes did an excellent job of reviving old-school Beach Boys harmonies. This song has the perfect mix of fun catchiness and melancholy sadness. A sweet, quick little tune, but a memorable one.

3. “Walcott,” Vampire Weekend- Vampire Weekend’s anthem about getting the hell out of Cape Cod is also their best track, with violins, a sing-along chorus, a gradual build, an epic ending, and most of all, that piano chord that will always roll along in your head.

4. “Family Tree,” TV on the Radio- Another beautiful song with a little more production than “Skinny Love.” Gorgeous vocals, strings, and synths make TV on the Radio the unlikely creator of one of the best ballads of the year.

5. “Robocop,” Kanye West- Also unlikely is an epic, string-filled, Stephen King-referencing Kanye West track that cannot be defined by a genre. Kanye’s entire album is gold, but something about “Robocop” places it above all the rest- probably Kanye’s surprisingly strong vocals, which carry the tune throughout.
