Lupe Fiasco’s New Post Punk/Alternative/Indie Band Japanese Cartoon

Lupe Fiascos New Post Punk/Alternative/Indie Band Japanese Cartoon listen

We always knew that Lupe Fiasco was mad crazy, but we just didn’t know how crazy he was, until now. Japanese Cartoon is Lupe Fiasco’s ridiculously cool side project (I’m not a fan of those, but for Lupe, I’ll make an exception). Should I say second side project? Does anyone know what happened to CRS?

The self-described Post Punk/Alternative/Indie Japanese Cartoon features a Lupe Fiasco putting on a freaky faux-British accent. This is a fun listen before we get to listen to LupEND. Holler back.

Catch two Japanese Cartoon tracks below:

New-Old Lupe Fiasco – Hustlers & Customers

New Old Lupe Fiasco Hustlers & Customers listenOne thing that I like about Lupe Fiasco — other than his his classic rapping powers — is that there is always some unreleased track or demo of his to share with everyone. This time the new-oldie is called “Hustlers & Customers.” Although I have always liked Lupe Fiasco’s music, pre-Food & Liquor and post-Food & Liquor, “Hustlers & Customers” depicts the Lupe Fiasco I want to hear on LupEND next year.

This is real good stuff. A+

New Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco – Forever Remix

New Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco Forever Remix listen I won’t lie, I have some sort of guilty love for mister Chris Brown. He’s sort of like the boy-version of Rihanna (I think he even wrote “Disturbia”). Figures that they’d be boning. Anyway, “Forever” is undoubtedly my favorite Chris Brown song ever and I probably downloaded this remix in record time, when I saw it. Lil Wayne and Lupe Fiasco on “Forever”? Jesus… it’s fantastic.

I sort of wish a vocoderfied Justin Timberlake (see: Can’t Believe It Official Remix) jumped on this track also.

Download the “Forever Remix” below! Continue reading →

New Old Lupe Fiasco – Accept The Troubles

New Old Lupe Fiasco Accept The Troubles listenWe haven’t had a Lupe Fiasco update in quite some time — I have a hot track for all of the Lupe enthusiasts out there.

“Accept The Troubles” is a killer old demo that has finally seen the light of day. “Accept…” shows a more rough side to Lupe, something that was absurdly absent on The Cool for the most part. This is the kind of stuff I want to hear on LupEND. This track is believed to have been recorded after Lupe’s debut.

Found this one at EastofLA. Download after the jump

Unreleased Lupe Fiasco – Phat Joe

Unreleased Lupe Fiasco Phat Joe listen
Here is yet another song from the Lupe Fiasco vault — of the “something you probably haven’t heard yet” variety, of course. On this cut, Lupe reminds us that he’s always watching. Scary.

New Lupe Fiasco – I Know Why / New Sh*t

Lupe Fiasco

Here is “I Know Why,” another rare and unreleased track from the Lupe vault. The heavily featured, Gemstones (Gemini at time of recording) join him over a Prolyfic production. I’m still looking out for that “Paris, Tokyo” remix that’s supposed to drop soon. Maybe another week or two?

Here’s a viddy of Lupe performing new material live. LupEND (el you pea END) anyone?

Unreleased Kanye West – The Stalker Song (Never Lettin’ Go)

Kanye West Louis Vuitton
I guess I caught on late with this one, but I just found it via elbo. Either way, I don’t think many of you have it, or even know if its existence (like me!), so enjoy! It’s pretty decent.

New Lupe Fiasco – The Birds and the Bees (Produced by Kanye West)

Lupe Fiasco
Here’s an unreleased Lupe Fiasco track that features a sick Kanye West production credit. Attorney St. says that “The Birds and the Bees” is “an unreleased jawn that came as a result of Lupe finding an old Kanye beat CD and wanting to do his own ‘Girls, Girls, Girls.’”

Two-thirds of CRS? This feels like Christmas right now.

Thom York vs Trent Reznor: Chi-Town Take Over

Radiohead vs Nine Inch Nails

Yesterday, Chicago Sun-Times blogger, Jim DeRogatis leaked the entire lineup for what looks like 2008’s best summer music festival, Lollapalooza. The first four artists on the roster get your blood pumping, but two in particular caught my attention. Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails.

Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails have been taking turns giving the music industry the big finger. The Brits made headlines last October for releasing In Rainbows without the control support of a record label, and Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails followed suit with last month’s Ghosts I-IV.

The two bands have also been busy one-upping each other with their innovative promotion strategies. Life was happy having two brilliant bands continuously providing for innovative and buzzworthy ways to distribute digital media, simultaneously help digging record labels’ graves. That is, until Reznor accused Radiohead of ripping their fans off by selling them low-quality files.

Wired has come up with a 10 round face-off between the bands, and looking at the people’s votes, it seems Nine Inch Nails has got Radiohead beat in terms of innovation. Now we pose this question, who will take over Chi-Town this first week of August (Aug 1-3)?

The official lineup is found below
