Some Remixes on a Sunday #2

Some Remixes on a Sunday #2 mp3

Continuing this from last Sunday.

Listen up. I’ve got a whole lotta new shizz for you and your granny. No, I really do. I’m just completely swamped. If I had a bit more time this week, almost every single one of these remixes would have seen its own post. But, alas, life doesn’t work out that way. Maybe some of you can help me?

Beyond normal life stuff, I have been pretty busy watching movies. Award season is upon us and I am still severely behind. While most of the theaters around here are playing what I want to see, I am having scheduling issues. My big priorities this week are: Rachel Getting Married, The Wrestler, and Gran Torino. I say that in confidence because I already wasted this weekend watching some pretty shitty guilty pleasure movies.

Yes. I watched Bride Wars and The Unborn this weekend, instead of catching up on films I know I would enjoy. Bride Wars wasn’t too bad — I didn’t expect much in the first place, but The Unborn was just insulting. Hopefully now I’ve had my fill of cheap Hollywood escapism. I need to focus on cheap-yet-affluent escapist movies now. But before I throw away $100 this week in movies (and movie-related expenses), have any of you seen Rachel Getting Married, The Wrestler, or Gran Torino? Are either of those films that I may not need to watch at the theater? Would the comfort of my own home suffice? Can you point me in the right direction of the torrent?

Damn, and I still have to watch The Reader, I’ve Loved You So Long, Frost/Nixon, Defiance, Che, and Good.

Now, my mom raised me right. I won’t ask for something without giving you another something in return. Here are 10 Remixes. But before you listen… isn’t that a cool pic up there?

Kings Of Leon – Use Somebody (Dolby Anol Remix)

I’m not going to comment on every remix, but this first one is just splendid. I can’t begin to tell you how much I like this one. Great use of this particularly great KOL track. Continue reading →

Katy Perry ‘Kissed A Girl’… and I liked it.

Katy Perry I Kissed A Girl

Unless you have been hiding under a rock somewhere for the last handful of months or so, you have been subjected to Katy Perry’s teen anti-pop songs with song titles influenced by various forms of homosexuality, menstruation, sex and other things a Pastor’s daughter shouldn’t really be singing about. Katy Perry really hit gold when ‘I Kissed A Girl,’ the ‘UR So Gay’ follow-up single, hit iTunes and Top 40 radio. Since then, with ‘I Kissed a Girl’, Perry has topped the US Singles charts, debuted in the Top 10 of the US Albums chart, and scored the 1,000th No. 1 single of the Rock Era — and yes, I like it.

I think the song is pure genius, a rather dumb side of genius, sure, but genius nonetheless. Just like any other stupidly genius songs, our favorite DJs remix and rip the song to shreds. I was wondering when a good ‘I Kissed A Girl’ remix would come across my inbox. Mr Gaspar’s brand spankin’ new Kissed A Girl remix is surely the first great remix of this essential Summer of ‘08 tune.
