Inconsistencies keep consistencies less suicide-inducing

Inconsistencies keep consistencies less suicide inducing covers
Now and then I like to mix up how I run things ’round here, Pretty Much Amazing. If you’ve been here for a few months, you may have caught the blog in a phase where I liked to mash one day’s worth of posts into one, extra-large post. I want to give that another crack.

Why? I guess you can say I’m not a huge fan of the monotonous life. This blog started out as a fun hobby, I’ll be damned before I let my hobby become monotonous.

Enough ranting, let jump into the music. I have some great mp3s for everyone including The Roots doing Weezy’s “A Milli”, Three (3) New WALE songs, and a KILLER Kanye West remix. Yeah, I bet you really wanna click that link down there, huh?

Top 10 Singles in the World, week 41

Top 10 Singles in the World, week 41 charts musicI’ve always been interested in the music charts — I keep tabs on the happenings of America’s music charts via Idolator’s fantastic column, 100 and Single written by chart guru Chris Monalphy. But much more interesting is the Global Track Chart, which monitors the top songs in the world.

This week at the GTC, Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” takes the No. 1 spot for the 7th week running. As it turns out, Katy Perry’s bi-curious summer jam caught on late in Europe and Australia. Though “I Kissed A Girl” has dropped off to No. 31 in the US’ Top 100 singles chart (though her new single “Hot ‘N Cold” is currently sitting at No. 6 — expect that to chart worldwide in 2-3 months). The rest of the chart seems pretty straightforward: Rihanna, no surprises here, P!nk, Coldplay, T.I., Kanye West, Pussycat Dolls. The only thing I’d like to mention is Kid Rock’s appearance in the Global chart. In the US, Kid Rock’s radio-friendly “All Summer Long” wasn’t released on iTunes guaranteeing (and limiting) its charting position into the lower 30’s-40’s. However, in Europe, the single has been made available digitally.

With Katy Perry’s washed up single at No. 1 and Kid Rock’s anti-charting song in the Top 10, it’s clear that America’s music chart isn’t as dominating as I thought it was. Talk about reality check.

Gossip Girl vs 90210 Music Showdown: Episode 3

Last week’s GGvs90210 Music Showdown (<- save that link for future Music Showdown posts) wasn’t as easy as it was for episode one — Gossip Girl came back HARD with indie favorites Santogold, LCD Soundsystem, and the Fratellis. This was enough to trump 90210’s waywardly mainstream choices. The final ballot was a huge 226-191, in Gossip Girl’s favor. What a turn out — almost twice as much as two weeks ago!

So far the score is 1 to 1… who will take the crown this week? Vote, vote, vote.

Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl – The Dark Night 09.15.08
Santogold – Lights Out
The 88s – It’s A Lot

Dear Rihanna, I Pronounces You: STUPID COW. But I Love You

So guess what, Rihanna as yet another new single — and it’s not ‘Breakin’ Dishes’… RELEASE ‘BREAKIN’ DISHES’ YOU STUPID COW! Everything goes tits up from here. ba-zing! Oh well, here you go, the video.

YouTube Preview Image

God she’s gorgeous! So there you have it, Rihanna’s third single (I agree, “Don’t Stop The Music” didn’t count.) Seems as though Rihanna can do it all — now she just hates that she loves Ne-Yo. I would too, have you seen THOSE pictures? (Sorry guys and gals, can’t link — else Pretty Much Amazing would be flagged as an “Adult Blog”… whatever that means?) By no means is this another “Umbrella” but it will probably hit, its already charting on Top 40 Radio.
