Clipse ft. Keri Hilson & Pharrell – All Eyes On Me

Clipse ft. Keri Hilson & Pharrell All Eyes On Me listen
The Clipse’s Rick Rubin produced Till The Casket Drops is almost upon us, dropping sometime in October. “All Eyes On Me” features one of the sickest beats The Neptunes have produced in quite a while. This new song, (second single? third single? I honestly don’t know…) is probably my favorite cut from the album so far.

I can appreciate Keri Hilson — She was, after all, that inescapable voice of 2007’s summer on Timbaland’s ultra-hit “The Way I Are” — but I can’t help but to feel that Rihanna would have made this song a lot more special. Keri’s voice sounds sullenly lifeless. Or maybe I’ve been jamming to “Live Your Life” for far too long.

Keri or Rihanna, this is one hell of a song. Listen to it here Continue reading →

“I’m Good” (featuring Pharrell and production by the Neptunes) is the new single from Clipse’s upcoming record Til The Casket Drops which is out in September. This is far from bad, but is it memorable? Hardly. It is nowhere near as good as Til The Casket Drops‘ first single, “Kinda Like A Big Deal” featuring KanYeezy. Let’s bring that out. New Lil Wayne – Yes / I’m A Monster / Red Rum / Weezy Who

New Lil Wayne Yes / Im A Monster / Red Rum / Weezy Who listen

There are so many new Lil Wayne tracks sprouting up lately, you’d think a mixtape was slowly leaking track by track. Most of t hem aren’t noteworthy, but a few of them are pretty great, which is why I waited until enough of them leaked so I can just group them in one post. No point in having 4 or 5 Weezy posts on the home page, right? Right. Well here we go..

“Yes” is fantastic crack that reminds us why Weezy calls himself the best rapper alive. P Wills jumps on the track as well. Not to sound like some cliche hip-hop blog, but this is straight fire. We all know he’s working on Tha Carter IV (and probably V and VI too!) and here’s too hoping we get to hear it this year. This leakage pattern seems all too familiar. Check the last one. It’s just an Eminem mashup, but it gives the illusion of an actual Em/Weezy collaboration. Who wouldn’t like that? Continue reading →

I think it’s safe to say that one can’t properly critique/review an album without being familiar with the artist’s previous work (assuming they have any). So as I sit here with Common’s post-’94 discography stacked on my desk, I can’t help but feel disappointed by Universal Mind Control—his eighth LP released earlier this week. It’s not the kind of disappointment one gets from having high expectations, but one from having low expectations actually met. After Common released his 4th LP, Like Water for Chocolate, his style significantly changed. You could argue he became more “mainstream,” or go so far as to say he “sold out,” but it’s always easy for us reviewers to judge. After all, a brotha’s gotta eat, right?

Hey sorry for the massive lack of updates! School, work, and life in general have gotten in the way, I don’t expect this to change anytime soon. Huge shout out to the people who keep on coming back! GIMME MOREBritney Spears is back y’all! It ain’t the best track ever but FUCK — ITS BRITNEY BITCH! I must’ve played it 200 times already! I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about Ms. Spears’ comeback, but now I see that there is hope. If Britney can pull this off, maybe I can finally cure World Hunger or AIDS. Hmm… Anyway, another track off of Spears’ comeback has leaked (Cold As Fire), no recommendations there folks, stick to ‘Gimme More’. UPDATE: Hot fake ‘Gimme More’ Remix featuring T.I. available here.
