Rogue Wave Covers Yeah Yeah Yeahs + Drugs In My Body! covers

Rogue Wave – Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeahs Cover)

Rogue Wave did an incredible job of covering the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ breakthrough hit “Maps” for the Valentine’s Day-themed compilation, Sweetheart. I keep pushing this compilation, but it’s almost V-Day! So it’s now or never. I think of the songs I have let you in on so far, Rogue Wave’s cover of “Maps” is one of my favorites. They completely made the song their own. Listen to “Maps”: Continue reading →

Thom York vs Trent Reznor: Chi-Town Take Over

Radiohead vs Nine Inch Nails

Yesterday, Chicago Sun-Times blogger, Jim DeRogatis leaked the entire lineup for what looks like 2008’s best summer music festival, Lollapalooza. The first four artists on the roster get your blood pumping, but two in particular caught my attention. Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails.

Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails have been taking turns giving the music industry the big finger. The Brits made headlines last October for releasingIn Rainbows without the control support of a record label, and Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails followed suit with last month’sGhosts I-IV.

The two bands have also been busy one-upping each other with their innovative promotion strategies. Life was happy having two brilliant bands continuously providing for innovative and buzzworthy ways to distribute digital media, simultaneously help digging record labels’ graves. That is, until Reznor accused Radiohead of ripping their fans off by selling them low-quality files.

Wired has come up with a 10 round face-off between the bands, and looking at the people’s votes, it seems Nine Inch Nails has got Radiohead beat in terms of innovation. Now we pose this question, who will take over Chi-Town this first week of August (Aug 1-3)?

The official lineup is found below

Gossip Girl vs Chuck Music Showdown – Episode 5

Gossip Girl vs Chuck Episode 5

Hey guys. GGvsC is making its new-PMA-look debut. With good news at that. Chuck has beat Gossip Girl once again! Taking a 61% chunk for Episode 4’s musical selections. That puts the scores at 2-2. This is episode 5, tie-breaker? Thrilling. Just remember that this little series will end at Episode 13, until Chuck’s Second Season kicks up.

Chuck – Episode 5

Hall & Oates – Private Eyes MP3
Envelopes – Sister In Love
Rogue Wave – Lake Michigan MP3
Gossip Girl – Episode 5
Kat Deluna (feat Elephant Man and Ivy Queen) – Whine Up (Spanish Version)
Ozzy Osbourne – Mama, I’m Coming Home MP3
Prima J – Rock Star
The Little Ones – Pot a Brewin (Radioclit Mix)

Other music in this episode included tracks by Cadence Blaze, Two Hours Traffic, All Wrong and the Plans Change, and Zooland. Sorry but I couldn’t find any info on them, if you know anything please share in the comments.

I am torn here. Chuck only has three songs, but each are brilliant. Gossip Girl has Ozzy and some insanely catchy pop tunes in its arsenal.

Its Britney Bitch: Relevant in New Music, etc.

Its Britney Bitch: Relevant in New Music, etc. mp3Britney Spears has given horny nerds and teeny-bopers’ a challenge to flood Google and Perez Hilton alike. Britney Spears and/or her team of promoters chose Labor Day Weekend to “accidentally” leak her Comeback album’s 1st single “Gimme More”, and over the passed couple of days, 5 new songs (not all to be included in her new album) leaked.

“Why do we still care so much about Britney Spears? Not sure. We’re drawn to the crazy! And there’s no one quite like her.”

-Perez
Only one of the five leaked tracks is officially going to be included to her new album, the rest are promotional demos recording in 2005 and were reportedly leaked by Jive Records, oh and we can expect 18 more demos to become available throughout the next few weeks, SOURCE. FUCKING SHOCKING isn’t it?! The collection of tracks leaked definitely have a electro-rave quality to them (MP3: Everybody, Been A While, Your…), while the rest remind me of something that didn’t make it onto Shock Value. The best track of the bunch is without a doubt, Everybody. The predominately bubbly-electric sounding track pulls a Kanye and experly samples Eurythmics classic “Sweet Dreams”. Decidedly, “Everybody” is pretty good, and it doesn’t need a “…for Britney” suffix. I do smell 2nd single.

Been A While, and Your… are cute and fun, but they’re no “Toxic” or “Gimme More” for that matter. One thing I do love about Spears is the fact that I can’t say her shit sounds like everything else. If Britney Spears can do something right, it is sounding unique (not sure if thats a good thing or not). From what I’ve heard so far, Britney’s comeback is going to be a riot! The still untitled comeback album will officially hit stores November 12th worldwide, but Americans and their brothers to the North will have to wait until the next day to purchase the album. For a fun list of recent Britney leaks, check out the Hype Machine. In other Britney news, MTV reports that Britney will indeed open up this year’s VMAs, and they promise a disappointment-free performance — so what? Is she going to please the haters too, well then I guess its safe to say, “Watch Britney perform ‘Gimme More’ perfectly while embarrassing herself for the cameras”!
