Britney Spears “Circus” Officially Remixed + N.A.S.A., Mr. Oizo too

Britney Spears Circus Officially Remixed + N.A.S.A., Mr. Oizo too listen

Britney Spears – Circus (Villains Remix) / N.A.S.A. feat. M.I.A., Santogold, and Spankrock – Whatchadoin (Villains Remix)

I guess those remixes Diplo made for Britney’s “Circus” weren’t as officially as they were rumored to be. I guess it works out for the best — Villains’ remix of “Circus” is much more Saturday-Night-radio friendly and would fill up any dancefloor in a second. I’m definitely putting this one into my next party mix. While I’m at it, maybe I should add Villains remix of N.A.S.A.’s “Whatchudoin?” Listen to both after the jump Continue reading →

N.A.S.A. – The Spirit of Apollo Album Review

N.A.S.A. The Spirit of Apollo Album Review album reviews reviews 2

[rating:77/100]

I guess the first thing to say is that The Spirit of Apollo is good. Very good. The turntablism is good, the rapping is good, the vocals are good… it’s very good. It better be too, I mean, anytime you have Tom Waits, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Chuck D, The Cool Kids, Santogold, Kanye West, DJ AM, and Seu Jorge gathered up to jam, you better have a special result. If not, you’ve done something wrong. N.A.S.A. ends up doing it all right though and certainly succeeds in delivering a great album. I wasn’t struck by anything being altogether original on this album, but the record is a powerful fusion of existing styles and methods. Because this album is not written as a single piece, it doesn’t flow like one, and I’m going to review it SportsCenter style. Get ready for the musical top plays. These are the songs that stood out to me: Continue reading →

Santogold ft. Lil Wayne & Drake – Unstoppable (Remix)

Santogold ft. Lil Wayne & Drake Unstoppable (Remix) mp3

We’ve been hearing quite a lot of new Lil Wayne lately. This one, however, doesn’t involve guitars or his rock album. This one is Lil Wayne (and his new up-and-comer Drake) rapping over a legit Diplo beat. Everyone knows that’s just as good as Diplo remixing “A Milli.”

Look for this track on Drake’s (who apparently starred in Degrassi!) upcoming mixtape, So Far Gone, which will drop via October’s Very Own. Continue reading →

What’s Going On? January 26-February 1

Whats Going On? January 26 February 1 gigs

As Perez would say, Completely Gratuitous

Another week, another series of concerts across the globe.

In NYC: If you’re an Andrew Bird kind of guy (or girl), check him out at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Monday night, or, if you’d prefer, the Carnegie Hall on Wednesday!

Wednesday night, I highly recommend you snag some tickets, somehow, to catch the Cold War Kids at the intimate Mercury Lounge. If not, however, buy your tickets way in advance for their April Terminal 5 show- I’ll be at that one for sure.

N.A.S.A. IN N.Y.C.! Thursday night! At (le) Poisson Rouge!  Be there. And then stay there until Saturday, catching They Might Be Giants on Saturday for a kids show at 3:00,  and an 18+ show at 8:00!

Two more great concerts in the city- Continue reading →

Dark Was The Night

Dark Was The Night is a 2-disc, 31-track piece of work where some of our favorite acts (Feist, Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear, The Decemberists, Spoon, Arcade Fire, Cat Power and Sufjan Stevens to name a few) hope to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS. Even if you don’t usually buy albums (I think that should be your New Years resolution), make an effort to purchase this one. It’s full of amazing, beautiful music and it helps a worthy cause.

On February 17th, Dark Was The Night will be available in double CD, triple vinyl, and download — all proceeds / royalties are going to the Red Hot Organization, an AIDS and HIV charitable organization that raises money and awareness for projects and research. Naturally, I’m interested in making sure as many people as possible go out and buy this, and posting any files from this compilation may hinder that goal. But you can preview some of the songs on the Dark Was The Night Myspace page. They will be streaming one new song a day (started last Thursday), so check back regularly to listen to the music.

The tracklisting is below: Continue reading →

N.A.S.A. – Whachadoin? (ft. M.I.A., Santogold, Spank Rock)

N.A.S.A. Whachadoin? (ft. M.I.A., Santogold, Spank Rock) listen

My god, this gargantuine  N.A.S.A. album is going to take over the Hype Machine world. The next song to leak off their The Spirit of Apollo album (hits stores February 17th).

These two guys are fantastic, and they seem to be the most popular guys around. This new song features M.I.A., Spank Rock, and Santogold. It’s called “Whachodoin?” You better be listening to this right now.

Blog Wars: The Genius Playlist | Round 1, Battle 4

Earlier this week, Ear Farm and The Culture of Me took on Lil Wayne’s “Dr. Carter” in two surprisingly different Genius Playlists. The Culture of Me’s versatile, somewhat alternative (Cool Kids, Beastie Boys, Jurassic 5, Lupe Fiasco, etc) playlist came on top with 60% of the votes! I’m sorry Ear Farm, but the voters have booted you out!

On this fourth battle, we’re pairing up Arjan Writes and Nialler9. This time I’ve ask my friends to create a genius playlist on the most confusing song of 2008: “Human.” I was really excited to see what these two came up with for the Killers’ jam. What didn’t surprise me was that neither of their playlists disappoint. These two lists are the best we’ve seen yet, and the hardest vote so far.

Read on to vote for your favorite Genius Playlist! Remember: Vote or Die! Continue reading →

Jay-Z & Santogold – Brooklyn Go Hard (Medley Remix) + More Medley

Jay Z & Santogold Brooklyn Go Hard (Medley Remix) + More Medley listen

@ NotNSFW

Here’s some inbox love. Toronto DJ Medley, the self-described resident dj and creative brain behind Toronto’s dopest weekly parties: Dance Like You Fuck, Remix This! (www.remixthis.ca) and The Boogie Down, has sent over a few remixes over to listen to. I’ve liked the remixes/mashups I’ve heard so far. The first and best remix transforms Jay-Z’s and Santogold’s  “Brooklyn Go Hard” into a club-worthy banger.

The second remix is one of my favorite “Circus” remixes. Medley mashes some Axwell into Britney’s fantastic single in this odd remix. It sounds abit subdued but somehow it’s incredibly danceable.

We’ve had some publically dissed stinker remixes lately. Maybe fourth (and fifth) time’s a charm?

Download these Medley remixes after the jump Continue reading →
