Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (feat. MGMT & Ratatat), Music Video

The third official single off the record, “Pursuit of Happiness,” was produced by electronic duo Ratatat and features Brooklyn superheroes MGMT. The beat is smooth and slick — props Ratatat. It wraps itself nicely around Kid Cudi’s painstaking lyrics and MGMT’s subdued vocal contributions.

I wrote that back in September, a few days after Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon leaked, and now, we finally have a music video to watch. According to the ever-reliable Confusion, the video was directed by Brody Baker, who also did Animal Collective’s “My Girls” and produced by Josh Hartnett, who Cudi met during his work on the new HBO series How To Make It In America. And here’s the kicker, Cudi’s GQ-adorned, crush-worthy peer / competitor / BFF Drake makes an appearance, dancing around and spraying champagne on everyone. Figures.

N.A.S.A. – Gifted ft. Kanye West, Santigold & Lykke Li (Steve Aoki Remix)

N.A.S.A. Gifted ft. Kanye West, Santigold & Lykke Li (Steve Aoki Remix) mp3
Much love for Steve Aoki, especially for his last remixes. He has already remixed one of my favorite singles of 08/09, “Spaceman” and now he’s here to sink his teeth into N.A.S.A. glorious debut single, “Gifted” featuring Kanye West, Santigold and Lykke Li.

His remix of “Gifted” is an erratic ode to Steve Aoki’s excellent live turntablism. If you’ve been to one of his sets, you can close your eyes and see yourself back at the show. And if you haven’t been to one of his shows, you’ve got yourself an excellent, fist-pumpin’, get-your-ass-on-the-door remix to jam to this weekend. Continue reading →

Remix-A-Day: The Killers – Spaceman (Steve Aoki & The Bloody Beetroots Remix)

Remix A Day: The Killers Spaceman (Steve Aoki & The Bloody Beetroots Remix) mp3
A remix a day keeps the doctor away, and the doctor lalala-LOVES this remix

Because we are focusing more on upcoming musical releases around here, new remixes get the short end of the PMA stick, sadly. I am determined to devote one post a day on new remixes, instead of bunching 10+ remixes in bulk. That has become somewhat tacky. Click here to read all of our Remix-A-Day remixes.

I always thought that “Spaceman” was a fantastically danceable second single. Sure, it was Killers danceable, but danceable nonetheless. As enjoyable it was to rock out to “Spaceman,” what Steve Aoki and The Bloody Beetroots have done with it is nothing short of a godsend. Continue reading →
