The Bloody Beetroots ft. The Cool Kids – Awesome

The Bloody Beetroots ft. The Cool Kids Awesome favorite songs
Bloody Beetroot fans, fear not, our masked mavens are still slaying some sick beats.

Unlike the recent mainstream garbage remixes that have been emerging, the Italian duo are still producing some surefire ear pleasers. Who knew that melding the right combination of heavy beats and synth with the Cool Kids monotonous free-styling style would work after all?

This track makes me want to throw my hands up and get down to the music (possibly throw some fist pumps into the mix). There’s not a simpler way to put it. True to the head-banging electro style they are known for, the Beetroots have created a pretty sick track.

Most of all, I think I appreciate the collabo. The Cool Kids and Bloody Beetroots on one track? It’s like having my cake and eating it too- talk about the best of both worlds.

Verdict: Put your hands up in the air, because this is definitely a hot track. Listen to it here:

Pigeons & Planes Presents: Mixed Tapes

Pigeons & Planes Presents: Mixed Tapes listen

Spreading it like butter! Confusion says:

Mixed by Kid Couture, this is a 10 track project featuring some of our favorite mixtape songs from ‘08. Some of the best music of the year was featured on mixtapes, and unfortunately a lot of people don’t bother to check entire tapes, so we picked the best of the best to be featured on this. 10 tracks, no bullshit, smooth transitions, no need to skip a track. Trust me. Download it, put it on a playlist or on a CD, and let it spin. Check the tracklist below, along with links to all those involved. If you have the means, spread this.

1. Asher Roth – Humansirkme
2. Adele & Mick Boogie – Melt My Heart (ft. Big Pooh)
3. 88 Keys – Cuddle Bums (ft. Tanya Morgan)
4. Kid Cudi – Man On The Moon

N.A.S.A. ft. The Cool Kids, Ghostface Killah, Scarface, and DJ AM – The Mayor

N.A.S.A. ft. The Cool Kids, Ghostface Killah, Scarface, and DJ AM The Mayor listen

Yikes, this track is hot. Here’s “The Mayor” reminding us that N.A.S.A.’s The Spirit of Apollo will kick ass and take names when it drops next month. The production value on this track is off the charts, props to N.A.S.A. and DJ AM for it. It’s siick. Though my head is still reeling from “Gifted,” and “Whachudoin?”

I wonder if any track off The Spirit of Apollo will top “Gifted” (my personal favorite N.A.S.A. so far). The album’s roster is unbelievable, but does anything beat a legitimate Kanye West, Santi White, and Lykke Li song? I don’t think so.

Grab “The Mayor” down there. Continue reading →

Some Remixes on a Sunday #3

Some Remixes on a Sunday #3 mp3

Continuing this from two Sundays ago.

It’s crazy how many great mixes you can across in a single week. These 10 were my favorite finds of the week. Big thanks to Ohh! Crapp, Fancy Sounds, Sundtrak, HypeM, and probably the biggest shout out goes to the people who send me their mixes!

On the last “Some Remixes on a Sunday” post, I focused a lot on movies. Mostly the films that I wanted to see. Since then, I have seen Frost/Nixon, The Wrestler, The Reader, Defiance, and Happy-Go-Lucky. I’m still DYING to watch Rachel Getting Married. For some reason, something gets in the way of me watching it at the theater whenever I decide to go out and watch it. And the torrent is nowhere to be found, a little less than a month away from the Oscars. It’s driving me nuts! I’m a sucker for contemp dramas — yes, I’m really pissed at the way Revolutionary Road was royally dissed on the Oscar nominations — so if any of your have some sort of Rachel Getting Married hook-up, pass it along,  yeah?

I can’t really talk much, listening to this new Weezy track that’s sort of ridiculous. Weezy doing rock music is definitely not my cup of tea. More about it tomorrow. Till then, here are my favorite mixes of the week! Continue reading →

New Maroon 5 – Harder To Breathe (The Cool Kids Remix)

New Maroon 5 Harder To Breathe (The Cool Kids Remix) listen

This the best thing I've seen all day

You guys might not know this, but I’m actually a big, big fan of Maroon 5’s funky sound and “Harder To Breathe” is definitely my favorite M5 song ever (maybe it’s tied with their Rihanna collaboration) and the Cool Kids remixing and even jumping on this track is just insanely excited for a fan like me. Maroon 5’s upcoming remix album Call and Response is really shaping up to be worth buying! I’m really glad that A&M are making an effort to make this remix album interesting.

Oh and a reader left a comment on my Neptunes remixing Maroon 5 post linking to the Mark Ronson & Mary J. Blige remix of “Wake Up Call.” Thanks for that — I also noticed that I already had the track from a few months back, it completely slipped my mind.

Catch both remixes after the jump! Continue reading →

New Cool Kids – The Delivery Man

New Cool Kids The Delivery Man listen
Yet another Cool Kids track has surfaced. Sort of. The Chicago-duo are the first act to release music from the new Mountain Dew-infused Green Label Sound — a singles-only label aimed at helping up-and-coming artists distribute exclusive tracks for free (This is the future of music — albums are dead, only singles will exist. Give the industry three or four years, it will happen, along with an insane concert ticket price spike). Matt & Kim are set to release music from Green Label Sound next. GLS also has a tour in the works.

New Cool Kids – Pennies

The Cool Kids
I’ve been waiting for this ish since I saw their performance on Rock the Bells this year. Thankfully 2db had the CD quality mp3. Dirty version y’all — yeah, I never say y’all, It hurts to type it.

I’m grateful and all but, doesn’t anyone think these guys give too much away for free? I thought they wanted to “get rich off of rap.” Or am I confusing my songs?

Whatever. Here’s the track they rushed into the studio for, just for you.
