The-Dream Love vs. Money Album Review

[rating:40/100]
If I didn’t know that The-Dream wrote “Umbrella” and “Single Ladies” I probably wouldn’t have given this album a full listen. I’m not disrespecting The-Dream here, but he’s showed us his ability, and for a man with those skills, I have a hard time understanding how he can release this album with a straight face. I’m going to warn you now: reading this review could be painful… which will mirror what I went through as I listened to the album. Ugh… Continue reading →

T-Pain & Kanye West – Flight School
T-Pain & Kanye West – Flight School / The-Dream & Kanye West – Walking On The Moon
“Flight School” is GLC track featuring Kanye West and T-Pain, but this untagged version of the track is missing GLC’s verse. Until GLC decides to add his verse, you rappers out there: knock yourselves out. I can see tons of freestyles and remixes sprouting up over the next few weeks. If you got the skills, you really shouldn’t pass this up — the beat is sick and it features T-Pain and Kanye West making the most of their talent. I’m not the biggest fan of T-Pain, but Pain really shines through on “Flight School,” and we hear Kanye bringing us back to College Dropout.
We hear Kanye West rapping once again on The-Dream’s “Walking On The Moon,” the latest, and most appealing track to surface from his sophomore effort Love vs. Money. I’ll be honest, I didn’t even bother listening to The-Dream’s first album Love Hate, despite everyone’s inflated endorsement. But I might just listen to Love vs. Money — “Walking On The Moon” sounds especially great. Head over to the Mixtape Maestro and read all about it. Listen to the tracks below: Continue reading →

New MP3s: The Roots and Fall Out Boy, Pete and Justice, Mariah Too

What a wonderful bend of color
1. The Roots ft. Patrick Stump – Birthday Girl DOWNLOAD | ALT
Alright, so it’s not really a Roots and Fall Out Boy collaboration, but close enough right? The only difference between Fall Out Boy and Patrick Stump inevitable solo career are the cheesy emo-esque lyrics. That said, don’t look at Patrick’s chorus vocals as a stigma. In fact, his soulful hankerings actually do the song good. The Roots can do no wrong in my eyes, I admit it.
2. Peter Moren – Social Competence DOWNLOAD | ALT
(Pete Mo, you like that don’t cha!) Well bend me over… its the guy that had us whistling for a large chunk of 2006/07 with ‘Young Folks’. Raise your hand if you’re not a Peter Bjorn & John fan. Exactly. Peter Moren’s solo album The Last Tycoon, from what I’ve heard off of it (4 or 5 tracks), is downright brilliant. I can’t wait till its drops 4/8. Or whenever it leaks… whatever.
3. Justice – DVNO (Tonics Jurkin’ edit) DOWNLOAD | ALT
Justice has a new single, new video, and *gasp* a new version of their dynamic monster ‘DVNO’. The changes are subtle in places and abrupt in others (circa 2:03), then after its a whole new party.
4. Mariah Carey ft. The-Dream – Touch My Body (Remix) DOWNLOAD | ALT
I almost didn’t post this… I am scared of Mariah, as any blogger should be. R.I.P. Kevipod. Lucky bastard Ali. But I sucked it up and decided it won’t be so bad if I let the world know the latest skankilicious jam freaking its way into my heart.
