Best Album of 2003 Poll

Best Albums of 00 | 01 | 02 | 03 | 04 | 05 | 06 | 07 | 08 | 09

Moving onto the fourth year of the decade, we continue to rely on your votes to find the best albums of each year. We’re taking an objective and fresh look at finding our favorite albums of the last 10 years.

As always, I’ve listed the 10 best albums, in accordance to top critics like the undeniable Village Voice Pazz & Jop Poll, The Onion (A.V. Club), Pitchfork, PopMatters, and Q Magazine.

Please vote for the album you think was the best in 2003. If your choice isn’t on here, we’d love to see it in the comments section (though, we’d appreciate if you’d vote for your favorite on the list anyway). Here are 2003’s finalists:

A. Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Fever To Tell, “Y Control
B. OutKast: Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, “The Way You Move
C. The White Stripes: Elephant, “Seven Nation Army
D. Radiohead: Hail To The Thief ,”2+2=5
E. The Shins: Chutes Too Narrow, “So Says I
F. Dizzee Rascal: Boy In Da Corner, “I Luv U
G. Death Cab For Cutie: Transatlanticism, “The Sound of Settling
H. Sufjan Stevens: Michigan, “Holland
I. Blur: Think Tank, “Out Of Time
J. Four Tet: Rounds “She Moves She

Trust me, 2003 was one of the hardest lists to make.

This is how it works:

I get two bloggers to create a Genius Playlist stemmed from the same song. I will publish said playlists here and you, the readers, will decide which one you like best! This is  100% winner-takes-all so choose your favorite blogger wisely.

Why 2007 Was Amazing: The Albums

Why 2007 Was Amazing: The Albums mp3

Kreativika

October is almost over and I figured I’d get a head start on the best albums of the year. This list is a bit different than any other “end of the year lists”. I am not setting them in a numeric order (eg The 50 Best Albums of 2007!). I am ordering them by the month in which they were released in. I am picking 5 albums per month, so by the time I’m finished, I should have 60 albums (and 1 mp3 per album) posted. In late December will I post the Best 40 Albums of 2007 list. Alright, now lets kick start with the best January releases!

Why 2007 Was Amazing: The Albums mp3The Shins – Wincing The Night Away 83%
MP3 | The Shins – Black Wave

  • Wincing the Night Away is a layered and masterful album that will trap you for hours. Wincing definitely brands the Shins as a “Band That
    Matters”

Why 2007 Was Amazing: The Albums mp3

Of Montreal – Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? 84%
MP3 | Of Montreal – Suffer For Fashion

  • An extraordinary album about desperation, isolation, and distress. Hissing Fauna… is a testament that Barnes is one of Indie Rock’s most talented songwriters.

Why 2007 Was Amazing: The Albums mp3The Good, The Bad & The Queen 82%
MP3 | The Good, The Bad & The Queen – History Song

  • The Good, The Bad & The Queen is darker and weirdly beautiful, contrary to what the name suggests. The terrific songs steal the Supergroup’s spotlight. They overcame their hardest obstacle.

Why 2007 Was Amazing: The Albums mp3Klaxons – Myths Of The Near Future 72%
MP3 | Klaxons – Golden Skans

  • If its a rave you want, look elsewhere, Myths Of The Near Future is a surprisingly powerful and deep pop influenced dance -rock record bristling with energy, ideas, and glorious, frenetic rhythms.

Why 2007 Was Amazing: The Albums mp3Norah Jones – Not Too Late 77%
MP3 | Norah Jones – Ocean of Noise (Arcade Fire Cover)

  • Yes, there could have been bigger, better, and wider cuts on Not Too Late, but it doesn’t take away from Norah Jones’ ability to be the
vocalist of the decade. Not Too Late suggests she has paved that path.
