Le big hug by Phoenix
Many people, like myself, feel that Phoenix’s latest album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is one of the finest albums to be released in 2009 so far. And without a doubt, the album’s first two singles, “1901″ and “Lisztomania” is two of the year’s best. Over the last few days, I’ve received two stunning remixes of both songs. France’s Teenagers took hold of the album’s lead single “1901″ giving it the startling perceptive Parisians-by-way-of-London rocker feel that much of the Teenagers’ 2008 debut Reality Check showcased. Only with “1901,” we aren’t subjected to that galling quasi-French accent.

Love No isn’t going to have the same impact as last year’s cult favorite, Homecoming. They’ve toned down their swearing and the plotting doesn’t have the same appeal, although it still raises a few smiles with references to an unhealthy addiction to the film Showgirls and an appeal to “stop smoking all the time”.
It’s a decent tune and Delafon’s bitchy deadpan delivery works well in the context of their style. They have their own distinctive and unique sound, and while they do seem to be moving forward, the tracks are a bit repetitive. The album is due out soon, and will demonstrate whether they have the ability to be more than just a novelty act.

John Mayer is really funny! — go figure. I would have never guessed that the guy who sobbed ” When you’re dreaming with a broken heart/The giving up is the hardest part/She takes you in with her crying eyes/Then all at once you have to say goodbye/Wondering could you stay my love?/Will you wake up by my side? /No she can’t, ’cause she’s gone..” would have a sense of humor. John Mayer has started a “mlog” (a blog about meals). Way to be different John! I mean Kanye is repping his fashionista ways on his blog, Rosie is bitching on hers, of course telling your fans about your eating habits is the next logical choice. Here is John’s reasoning for starting his mlog.

Now that’s funny.What’s funnier is this: This past Monday, John had waffles. With blueberries and strawberries. Surely there is a hidden meaning behind this choice. Could he be back with Jessica Simpson? Blueberries are blue, and John Mayer plays the blues. Strawberries are delicious, just like Jess. I think the message is pretty clear: John Mayer ordered waffles, therefore he’s back with Jessica Simpson. And he’s about to cover her with butter, cut her up into pieces, eat half of her, and put the other half in a doggie bag to save for later.
