New Madonna – Miles Away (Thin White Duke Remix)

New Madonna Miles Away (Thin White Duke Remix) mp3

Jacques lu Cont, aka the Thin White Duke has remixed Madonna’s “Miles Away” off her latest album, Hard Candy. “Miles Away” was one of my favorite songs off the album and quite frankly, I expected more from the Confessions On A Dancefloor producer.

I do have to admit that this remix does have me tapping my toes a bit. It’s just not as good as I expected a Jacques lu Cont remix to be.

Check the remix out after the jump! Continue reading →

New Killers Album ‘Day And Age’ Jacques lu Cont-ified

New Killers Album Day And Age Jacques lu Cont ified listen
Currently, the Killers is finishing the album which is scheduled to be released in November 2008. Brandon Flowers has stated that there is no concept art for the fourth album yet. However, the band headed to the studio in June and the album is being produced by Stuart Price. Flowers also stated in an interview with Q that he was excited to play a new song called “Tidal Wave”, influenced by David Bowie’s “Drive-In Saturday” and “I Drove All Night” by Roy Orbison. The setlist of The Killers’ July 29 and August 1, 2008 show at New York City’s Highline Ballroom and Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel and Spa contained two new songs: Spaceman and Neon Tiger. These songs were also played at The Killers’ show on July 31st at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. Currently, the new album is stated to be titled Day and Age. In a recent NME magazine article dated August 19, 2008, Flowers commented on the progress of the album, stating the music was “97% done”, but the lyrics were only about “30% done”. New album is now officially set for a November 25 street date, according to an internal Island/Universal release schedule cited on DirectCurrentMusic.com. The first single from Day & Age will be “Human” and will be released September 22, 2008.

In addition to Day & Age, The Killers plan to release their third Christmas single – a collaboration with Elton John called “Joseph, Better You Than Me”. This song is not expected to be on the album Day & Age.

I’m a huge Killers fan. My undying love for them leads me to believe they are criminally underrated, judged harshly, yadda yadda yadda. So, naturally, I’m excited for the new album — but I’m extra excited because of Stuart Price’s (aka Jacques Lu Cont, Thin White Duke, etc) production credit on the album. You have to wonder what kind of aural magic awaits us this November. Will it sound like that “When You Were Young” Jacques Lu Cont remix? Or Maybe the dub? What about the Lindbergh Palace remix? Dub?

Hell, probably something else entirely.

Proving Electronic Music Makes You Happy (vol. 1)

Proving Electronic Music Makes You Happy (vol. 1) mp3

Happiness is just a chemical balance somewhere in your brain, right? Right. Well I am completely convinced that Electronica creates a chemical imbalance in your brain, causing extreme happiness — a state of ecstasy even. This new series is closely related to my “Proving That Pop-Punk Makes You Happy” series, if you fail to see that, well frankly, you’re an idiot.
