Pretty Much Amazing World Premiere
As promised, the Timid Tiger boys are back with a new album, Timid Tiger & The Electric Island due out on January 29th in their mother country, Germany. But before then Timid Tiger are releasing a four-track EP, named after the album’s first single, “Electric Island.” The EP will be available digitally on October 2nd and sold physically on tour.
Timid Tiger remixed the titular track for this EP, and Pretty Much Amazing is premiering it here and now. Timid Tiger transformed their cartoon-pop (you like that?) jam into an three parts electro-banger and one part space-y blues joint. After listening to their mash-up/remix skills on “Are You Gonna My Way” and now on “Electric Island,” my ears are telling me that these guys should start remixing more often.

It’s been a few months since we’ve talked about Timid Tiger. Way back in March we released their PMA EP, which you can still download for free here. I’ve got an update for you guys. Timid Tigers have signed to Four Music, a German sublabel owned by Sony.
For their first release, they will be remastering PMA EP favorite, “Electric Island” and release a single/EP backed by a brand new song, a “special urban version” of “Ina Meena Dika,” which you should be listening to soon.
There have also been talks of a “Electric Island” and/or “Ina Meena Dika” remix contest hosted by PMA. The winner will have his/her/their remix appear along side Timid Tiger’s own remix on the physical release which will hit Europe and iTunes. More info on that later though.

Timid Tiger first came to my attention when they entered my “Womanizer” Cover Challenge. Their inspired cover of “Womanizer” led me to the treasures that Timid Tiger were hiding in Germany. I exchanged emails with the band for a few weeks and we came to the agreement that Pretty Much Amazing would premiere and distribute their EP titled, THE PMA.EP. The extended player includes four original Timid Tiger tracks, a cover, an original Timid Tiger remix, as well as two remixes by a couple of PMA’s DJ friends. Here are the cover & tracklist:

For those that are signed up for our weekly newsletter, the pmaBLAST, “House of Love” is old news. You guys will also get a sneak peak into the whole EP this Saturday before it drops on the 16th. Like I mentioned on the newsletter, “House of Love” is my favorite Timid Tiger song to date. As soon as I heard this song, I knew these guys were special. Here is another fun sneak peek into Timid Tiger’s new EP, which they have decided to call “The PMA.EP.” We’re honored! Before I let you listen to this fantastic track, I also want announce that the EP will not be released on 3/06 as previously announced, but on 3/16. Blame scheduling conflicts and life in general.

I know you’re itching for more tunes from these German boys, and I’ve got your fix. Here’s one of the newer tracks to pop out of the Timid Tiger recording sessions. “Golden Arm” is a catchy indietronic piece of cartoon pop (wha? just go with it). These guys deserve a lot more attention than they’re getting. Spread the word guys — I will be dropping their EP March 6th with brand new, mastered mixes of “Golden Arm” and “Electric Island,” along with a few new songs!

Premiered this song on the Fuck My Life episode of the pmaCAST a couple of weeks ago, but I’ve decided it was time I let you guys download the song. This is the second of four original Timid Tiger songs that will appear on the EP that Pretty Much Amazing will release in collaboration with the band. So far, you’ve been able to download Timid Tiger’s cover of Britney’s “Womanizer” and their remix “Are You Gonna My Way.” “Gadget Girls” is the first original Timid Tiger track to appear on the new EP to be available for download. What’s next? Have you ever tried counting how many times you say “Fuck My Life” out loud? No? You should. The results may shock you. I stopped counting after my tally hit 13. Maybe I’m just a big whiner, but a couple of days ago I created this playlist on my iPod to de-stress myself. It features some great tunes that have always made me happy and don’t remind me of anything negative — good vibes all around. It worked out pretty well.
So when Saturday night came around, I was stumped trying to come up with a theme/tracklist for today’s pmaCAST. Then I had an epiphany: I am not the only guy in the world who needs some de-stressing. My stress is nothing compared to people with real problems! So why should I lock this playlist up in the sweet confines of my iPod? I love you guys too much to do that.
There’s really nothing much to say about this week’s pmaCAST, other than it is meant to be really feel good-y. I start it up with my FAVORITE song of the moment, Feist and Ben Gibbard’s “Train Song.” I follow it up with Little Jackie’s “The World Should Revolve Around Me” and Lenka’s “The Show,” two of my favorite songs out on Top 40 radio. Then comes the Mae Shi with their Christian Bale tribute “R U Professional” — if this song doesn’t make you smile, you’re retarded. Up next are the Veronicas with their brutally stoic and heartless piece of pop majesty, “Untouched.” The next three songs are by artists you should really keep an eye on from now on: The Whitest Boy Alive, Passion Pit, and Ted & Francis. Following them is a club remix (though it doesn’t really sound like it) of Hercules & Love Affair’s “Blind” — one of 2008’s most beautifully sad anthems.
I threw in “Walking On A Dream” by Empire of the Sun (another band you should keep an eye on) right before Lily Allen’s “Fuck You,” off her new album, It’s Not Me, It’s You. This song is trill. Like super trill. I close up the podcast with a new Timid Tiger song. I know some of you are really feeling their stuff, and I’m glad. “Gadget Girls” is another song that will be featured on Timid Tiger’s new EP that will be released here pretty soon, more info on that later, I promise.
