Syesha was truly amazing this week. I love her voice. I hope that, if she doesn’t win, she doesn’t jsut fade away into Idol-alum oblivion.

I truly though Kristy Lee Cook did so much better when compared to weeks ago. She stepped up her game every week and came such a long way since her “Eight Days A Week”, which was pretty horrible. Her “Forever” is great! Love the control and the country style she gave it.

Though she was growing on me each week, I thought she left very gracefully. Go Kristy!

  4. Archuleta=LIFE!

This was, beyond the shadow of a doubt, the MOST CHALLENGING night of songs American Idol has seen! When I first heard Mariah was to be the mentor and songbank, I nearly fell out of my chair at how ridiculous it all sounded and how much of a MESS I predicted the night would end up. While I won’t speak on the live performances, I will say that each and every contestant (and yes, EVEN little Brookie) met the challenge and rose to the occasion in these studio recordings. Mariah’s songs pushed each contestant out of their comfort zone and into a product of which they should all be proud. My favorite, hands-down, is David Archuleta’s recording. His uniquely honest tone, control and overall delivery is undeniable proof that there was no other way to sing the song and that he will (in my heart) be the FIRST American Idol in the truest sense of the word. That said, I was most impressed by Kristy Lee Cook, who outdoes herself in “Forever” and thought Jason Castro to be the most original and true to himself. Carly’s recording is MUCH tighter and better executed than her live rendition. Syesha’s, while being AMAZING in vocal ability, is just ahead of the beat in a song where the tempo is VITAL to its musical integrity. I am unsure if this was a stylistic choice or the result of poor guidance by the studio production crew. As a DIE-HARD Mariah Carey fan, I was throughly impressed with everyone and think they did Mariah’s legacy (which continues to grow to this day) justice. You GO, boys and girls…YOU GO :-)
