mp3: The One ft. Stevie Nicks [Vanessa Carlton]

I’m really liking this new track from Vanessa Carlton’s curiously titled “Heroes & Thieves” (2007).. for those of you who may have put Vanessa on the back burner since “100 Miles,” here’s a video of the “White Houses” from her sophomore album “Harmonium” (2004). Love the quirky dancing.

Another piano-playing songstress, A Fine Frenzy (born Alison Sudol) released an album this summer called “One Cell in the Sea.” This adorable singer has a very sweet sound. I actually first heard FF’s music when Itunes put up a free mp3 of hers called “You Picked Me.” Unfortunately sometime during my frantic work computer file catharsis, I erased this good song. For now, while I look for it, here’s the video of it and another song from the album.

This lady’s last album came out in 2005.. old news, but I still dig this track. Is it just me or does her name sound too much like Goat?

mp3: First Love [Goapele]

Here’s a track from French singer Benjamin Biolay, who is brother to Coralie Clément, and has co-written and co-produced two albums with Keren Ann, whose song “Not Going Anywhere” was featured on Grey’s Anatomy.

mp3: Los Angeles [Benjamin Biolay]

As a friend of mine described it, “Los Angeles” is the type of song you listen to late at night, after you crawl home from partying at 3 am.
