Mr Little Jeans is not a Mr, and we can’t speak to a level of intimacy with her that we’d know how little her jeans are, but we suggest you try getting past Monica Birkenes’ inaccurate performance moniker and getting into her music, which is actually quite fantastic. We’re especially loving “Runaway,” a sweeping, maximalist, and vaguely (but appealingly) creepy pop jam with a great beat you’ll probably only hear on the second listen because of how amazing Birkenes’ voice is. Her complete, hypnotic control is indicative of her potential – if she keeps making songs like “Runaway,” as emotionally and technically complex as they are catchy, we expect to hear Mr Little Jeans everywhere before too long. The track also comes with an appropriately hallucinatory video – check it out.
Last year Mr. Little Jeansmemorably covered Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs."
