Taylor Swift is shaking off the haters and the self-imposed genre barriers on her upcoming, "straight-up pop" album 1989, and specifically her new, single "Shake It Off".
The song is inoffensive and 97% hooks; like a less-spirited "Hollaback Girl." The video is amusing, baffling and sometimes embarrassing with its concept of watching Taylor try and fail various styles of performance before ultimately shaking her failure off with a bunch of ecstatic fans. It doesn't exactly reach the joyous peaks of "We're Never Ever Getting Back Together" though.
1989 is out October 27. Pre-orders are ongoing.
