THE SHINS

The Shins have been taking a bit of a breather since James Mercer began his increasingly popular side project Broken Bells, along with mastermind producer Danger Mouse. Now after releasing two records under the moniker, Mercer has returned to his main act with a brand new lineup that includes Modest Mouse drummer Joe Plummer and Yuuki Matthews of Crystal Skulls.

The band embarked on a nation wide tour this week, and stopping at Oregon's Wow Hall they gave fans a special treat: a taste of a brand new song (probably) called "For A Fool" and a cover of David Bowie's classic “Ashes to Ashes.” Check out a video of the performance below; you'll notice it sounds pretty similar to the original, Mercer even doing a bit of a Bowie impersonation. The Shins have confirmed a new album would be out next year, more details to come. You will have to pardon the quality.
