Twenty-two year old Boise University student Trevor Powers is causing a bit of a stir with his Youth Lagoon project, particularly since he signed to Fat Possum Records, who seem to do no wrong in 2011. His debut LP The Year Of Hibernation — which we can't seem to put down — is set to come out on September 27th, and he's now released the first clip from the record with the epic, lo-fi chamber-piano ballad called “Montana.”
The song is spacious and large, meant to be heard in a wide, open space, yet it's also very ethereal and hushed. The video was directed by Tyler T Williams, focusing on the constraints war forces on a family, and is also cleverly set around a lagoon. Watch the clip below and fall in love with Powers for the first time if you haven't heard him yet.
