Here are some words we haven’t strung together in a long time: new music from Cat Power! We’ve got to temper that a little bit though – “King Rides By,” which you can stream right now (along with its accompanying video starring Manny Pacquiao as a tireless slow-motion boxer), is an updated new version of one of the highlights on Chan Marshall’s 1996 release What Would the Community Think.

We like this new take though – with that creepy echo effect on her guitar, Spoon-esque rhythmic, minimalist percussion and bass, and seemingly infinite layers of her vocals, Chan makes “King Rides By” sound like it was written yesterday. At Cat Power’s website, you can pay what you want for the track to make a donation to a selection of charities.
