Check Out: CHVRCHES – “Science and Vision”

CHVRCHES are three young Glaswegians who filter dark, Goth-y electro-pop like that of Grimes, Charli XCX, and Purity Ring through a decidedly grimey, industrial filter. Lauren Mayberry’s pure, clean vocals sound like appropriately celestial messaging through her bandmates’ Iain Cook and Martin Doherty’s layered, smart electronic soundscape. Check out this video of them performing as-yet-unreleased cut “Science and Vision” live for the BBC’s Radio 1 – it’s fascinating to watch Cook and Doherty set up what ends up being a massive, thunderous backbeat, not to mention it’s hard to believe Mayberry’s voice comes out of a real person. Give it a listen.
