With the shiny elctropop aesthetic of artists like Grimes, Purity Ring, and more recently Chvrches, Alpine and MØ, it’s quite easy to lose sight of the darker emotions that underlie all those catchy choruses and danceable synths. “The feeling of restlessness and wanderlust,” as MØ says, is there, but you have to look.
