We’ve always loved the way MS MR manage to evoke a sense of looming weirdness in their music – through Lizzy Plapinger’s saccharine-sweet vocals and Max Hershenow’s haunted production, their songs tend to sound like they’re seeing something you’re not that’s lurking just beneath the surface. The duo’s finally made a video for their breakout single “Hurricane” that manages to pretty accurately capture this vibe – it’s a David Lynchian tale of a small town full of strange bodies, in which Plapinger’s got blue skin, Hershenow’s neck exudes smoke, a kid works out next to a silver alien, a cheerleader melts like ice cream, someone’s boyfriend’s mouth exudes slime. It’s a fantastic video – check it out.
