Ab-Soul’s music tends to wear a dark aesthetic but contain enlightening messages, they shine in their depth. The video for “Illuminate” operates this way as well. Soul and coconspirator Kendrick Lamar only appear as projections on the walls of buildings in a post-apocalyptic city, currency is burned for heat and Control System is found lying in pile trash. It’s a thought provoking and visually engaging video, as one can expect from anything TDE production.
