If there are four things you never expected to hear in one sentence, they would probably be “Shia LaBoeuf,” “Kid Cudi,” “ten-minute short film” and “serial killers.” But lo and behold, Shia LaBoeuf just directed a ten-minute short film about serial killers starring and featuring a score by Kid Cudi. And if you’re still not wowed – it’s in French.
LaBoeuf’s filmmaking at times looks like a music video shot by Jean-Luc Godard and is Blair Witch Project shaky at others, but what’s really awesome is Cudi’s soundtrack; it’s a little out of his element in how it ranges from ambient, creepy drones to atmospheric spy-movie rock. His acting isn’t so bad either.
“Maniac”, the song, is found on the fourth act of Kid Cudi’s sophomore effort, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. It features a verse from Cage and samples St. Vincent. Watch another great Kid Cudi video, the Oldboy-inspired clip for “Mr. Rager”.
