If you recall, MGMT curated an excellent compilation for LateNightTales a few weeks back and dropped in their cover of goth-punks Bauhaus’ seminal 1982 The Sky’s Gone Out cut “All We Ever Wanted Was Everything”.

It’s a catchy, creepy work of musical science fiction, percolating from folk-y acoustic guitar riffing into a massive, bombastic climax. When Andrew VanWyngarden sings “the sound of the drums is calling,” you’ll know exactly what he’s talking about. The video is a great visual aid – heavily, mesmerizingly layered in the same complex, colorful way as the music. Check it out.
