Toronto’s infamous indie rock collective Broken Social Scene has been known for their social and politically conscious savvy rock tunes, particularly this year’s anti-oil company themed “Texico Bitches” from Forgiveness Rock Record. Director Thibaut Duverneix obviously had a similar agenda with the video for the song, focusing on a high stakes oil wrestling (that’s not a typo) match, where the ready-for-battle attired crowd become a little uncomfortable when the match turns into a sensual, oil drenched gay love fest. A premise is very easy to determine out of this: make love, not war. I just hope that’s not real oil they use.
