In a move probably perfected by Lady Gaga with her video for “Telephone”, Rihanna pulls off the tricky feat of making a great music video out of a barely adequate song. Ed. note — we’ve since warmed up to the song considerably. Gaga took Quentin Tarantino pastiche and her personal obsession with American consumerism to create her high trash, Rihanna, here, draws from Requiem for a Dream and very personal feelings from a very public scandal and made this horrific, sexy tornado.

Rihanna’s new album, Talk That Talk is out November 21.
