The Dirty Projectors’ 21 minute long music film, Hi Custodian has arrived to the Internet, following last night’s New York premiere at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema. Director, star and DP frontman Dave Longstreth has said that the project was inspired by Kanye West’s Runaway and Prince’s Purple Rain, but we’ll venture to guess it was also inspired a bit by Stanley Kubrick.
On the music side, the film features songs and alternate versions of songs from the band’s excellent new album, Swing Lo Magellan, as well as unreleased tracks recorded during that album’s sessions.
Set aside 20 minutes later today, it’s a treat for the eyes and ears.
