In case you’ve forgotten, The National — who gave us our favorite album of 2010 — have offered up plenty of new music in 2011 without ever committing to releasing anything new.

There have been a couple of collaborations, with Grinderman and the Forms. Then they wrote the devastating “Think You Can Wait” for Paul Giamatti’s excellent film, Win, Win. And in April, the band gave another album-worthy cut called “Exile, Vilify” to video game Portal 2.

The game’s developers, Valve, teamed up with the band and held a video contest for the song a while back, and we now have a winner / music video for “Exile, Vilify”. It’s actually really awesome if you’re into sad sack socks.
