The Wikipedia entry for “People with synesthesia” reads like a who’s who list of great creative minds in western culture (it includes several contemporary musical artists: Aphex Twin, Pharre, Mary J. Blige, and Marina and The Diamonds). I found said entry by way of the British producer Kwes’s page, who is a synesthete and collaborator with the likes of the xx, Bobby Womack and now Valentina, the latter of which being who we mean to draw your attention to on this lovely Friday afternoon. “Wolves” is the lead single for her EP of the same name—all of which is produced by Kwes—and as of today it has a gorgeous, synesthesia-for-the-rest-of-us video. That’s to say nothing of the song itself, whose pianos, strings and percussion build slowly through the song’s four minutes to deliver a Sufjan Stevens-like crescendo that we can’t get enough of. And her voice–stunning, strong and soulful.

You can grab “Wolves” on iTunes now. Her label, Greco Roman, is calling the Wolves EP her debut, but she also had a release in 2011 that gained her some attention. No word on a release date yet, but it couldn’t be soon enough for us.
