Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O is no stranger to interesting corporate collaborations, but who are we to complain when the results are so beautiful? Her latest is a simple and heartrending piano-driven cover of “Mamma Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys,” the Ed Bruce song Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings made famous in 1978. It soundtracks David Altobelli’s poignant new short film “Abandoned,” made for Chipotle’s fundraising collaboration with Farm Aid to call attention to the financial struggles of family farmers. Lend a careful ear while you watch the clip – Karen’s sweet voice and tender instrumentals fit the message perfectly.
