It seems fitting that for Spin's Nevermind tribute to Nirvana, Newermind, they enlisted rising art rocker Erika M. Anderson and her band to cover a tune from the legendary grunge band.
EMA perform a flawless rendition of Nevermind's bonus track “Endless, Nameless,” a song Nirvana would often close live sets with, and one you would have to wait to hear for ten minutes of silence after the album seemed to end on the original CD.
To give it a more organic feel, the performance was shot in VHS and finds Anderson smashing her guitar to pieces at the end of the set, as Kurt Cobain so often did. Musically, it showcases so many grunge elements: Anderson's distorted voice, the screeching guitar riffs, the transition from abrasive rock into melody, and than back to angry.
After the video, Anderson talks about Nirvana's influence on her and what their music means to the world today. Check it all below courtesy of Spin.
