In case you didn't notice, all four of September's G.O.O.D. Friday tracks from Kanye West made the upper tier of September's top downloads here on PMA. That's understandable though - and really, it's the result of any major pop star giving music away for free. Anyway, as promised, Kanye West dropped another free tune late Friday night. The newest cut samples the wonderful and legendary Curtis Mayfield in a slick, laid back production by the just-as legendary Pete Rock.
Kanye also doesn't disappoint in the guests column, maybe even to his detriment. Kanye West is a fine MC, granted, but with Jay-Z dropping legendary-sounding bars like he does on "The Joy," its hard to ever see Kanye West as the star of G.O.O.D. Fridays. Though, uncharacteristically, he seems to be fine sitting back and accepting his role as curator; and he's doing an outstanding job bringing in major talent. In just a couple of months we've heard fresh verses from Jay-Z, Raekwon, RZA, Mos Def, Common, Kid Cudi, Rick Ross, and more. Listen / Download "The Joy" below:
