Brooklyn trio Lemonade won us over with the delirious experimental R&B of lead Diver single “Neptune,” so we’re psyched that their next offering from the record, “Softkiss,” keeps in that vein.
We’re loving how effortlessly they amalgamate the planar synths and stuttering vocal samples of Ibiza-influenced chillwave with ‘80s glam-pop tradition (those gorgeous vocals and echoing synth chords have us thinking sailboat-set video, yeah?) and sexy, unhinged experimental R&B.
Just like “Neptune,” it’s the last half of “Soft Kiss” that blows our minds, what with those haunting lyrics enveloped in drones and drum machines. Diver is out May 29th.
