Dan Bejar will most likely go down as one of the most prolific Canadian song writers of our time. As front man of Destroyer, an occasional writer for Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers, and a member of folk ensemble Swan Lake, Bejar has become renown for his outward lyricism, gathering a bit of a cult following along the way. In anticipation of Destroyer's forthcoming 9th LP, Kaputt, Bejar has released the first single, “Chinatown,” a more personal and poignant exposition than his usual works. “Chinatown” finds Destroyer entering a field of softer, more responsive rock, using saxophones to help set the mood, Bejar's vocals subdued and nonchalant. Kaputt is out January 25th via Merge.
