2009 seemed to be the year for Fool's Gold, with the rise of the Los Angeles based collective, and the label (no relation) fronted by DJ A-Trak. The former's affection for Afro-pop, audible tropical landscapes, multi-instrumentalism and the Hebrew language was displayed on their debut eponymous LP with songs as afrocentric as “Sunrise Hotel.” The band has recently announced that they will be putting out their sophomore effort, Leave No Trace, in the summer, and we have our first taste of the album with the brass heavy “Street Clothes.”
The song is sang in English and a bit more electronically influenced than anything on their debut, though it deploys very similar style and mannerisms. Listen to it below; Leave No Trace drops August 16th on IAMSOUND.
