Without any pre-release to-do, the Pixies dropped their first new song in nine years, "Bagboy," on their website this morning. It's also the band's first track not to feature bassist Kim Deal, who announced she had left the band last month, though whoever is singing the track's title does an awfully good impression. It's a pretty great song, sharp and angular and decidedly evil, with Fall-esque spoken word lyrics from Black Francis. Its video, by Lamar + Nik, is fantastic as well - like an updated, even-more-disturbing version of R.E.M.'s"It's the End of the World as We Know It" clip, as a suburban teenager trashes his vacant house. This seems to be a one-off song, but we'll keep you posted if more news turns up. Download the track here.
