Shakira is one of the most undeniably interesting and talented international superstars of our generation. With her astonishingly great English-crossover album Laundry Service, and her follow-up dual albums Oral Fixation/Oral Fijacion Vol. 1 & 2 (specifically mega-singles "La Tortura" and "Hips Don't Lie"), Shakira has become a fixture in pop music and is known for her genre-blending.
On her newest pair of singles, "She Wolf" and Spanish counterpart "Loba," the Latin-rock-goddess ditched her signature ferocious vocals and jangly guitar riffs for a very electronic, very disco flavor.
"She Wolf," the first single off her upcoming album of the same name, is unlike anything Shakira has ever done in the past. In 2009, the realm of disco-y electro-pop is quite crowded unfortunately, but it's Shakira's unique voice and fantastic, nonsensical lyrics that make this single a stand-out among the La Roux's and Little Boots' of the world.
Listen to "She Wolf" / "Loba" here.
It goes without saying that the single sleeve is fantastic. Now the question is... which version do you like better? I prefer the Spanish version over the English version simply because it seems to flow better, and it sounds cooler for some reason.
