A brand new R.E.M. song arrived yesterday; the first taste from the rock vanguards' fourthcoming fifteenth studio album, Collapse Into Now. From the looks of it, R.E.M.'s newest collection of songs is set to fall into the trajectory of U2's latest albums (except without the massive sales and colossal world tour) — "Discoverer" isn't the hook-laden first single fans of the band might have been expecting, but as the press is stressing, this is merely a free look into the opening track of Collapse Into Now. It might reek of a comeback but at least I can take comfort in that even an aging but undeniably important band like R.E.M. is adopting in vogue marketing schemes usually utilized by mid- to- enterprise-level "indie" bands.
