A bit over a week ago, the Antlers entrusted us with the precious new single, "Parentheses", from their forthcoming album Burst Apart. As the album's May 10 release date draws nearer, another tune has, of course, manifested itself and found its way into our sharing hands.
Like "Parentheses" before it, the new tune—"Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out"—recalls early Aughts Radiohead. It's not quite Kid A or Amnesiac, yet not quite Hail To The Thief. Antlers lead singer, Peter Silberman, particularly evokes Thom Yorke, though musically, "Every Night"'s Radiohead hat-tip is a lot more subtle than that of the first single, which sounded as if it were a rescued Kid A outtake.
In any case, this is Grade A stuff here, folks. A compelling case of "Which Radiohead Album Does This Sound Like?" is never a bad thing to attach to a piece of new music, I say. Someone must be doing something right.
Burst Apart is out May 10 on Frenchkiss. Pre-order it here.
