It's a weird time to be a Total Control fan. The Melbourne postpunk six-piece's SoundCloud page features the scant biographical information "WE CAN'T TOUR SORRY," and a recent Pitchfork profile cast them as on the verge of breaking up. It's also a great time to be a Total Control fan, because they're gearing up to release an extremely good record called Typical System, which you can stream now ten days in advance of its physical release via the venerable Seattle label Iron Lung. What with its diverse, self-assured array of sounds, from glossy synths ("Glass") to Joy Division-y meditativeness ("Flesh War") to guitar-heavy punk ("Systematic Fuck") to kraut-y motorik rhythms ("Black Spring"), it's a must-listen. Stream it now via Pitchfork, or find it in a record store or via Iron Lung starting June 24th.
