Originally (and mysteriously) marketed as a new Tidal-affiliated film starring Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danny Glover, it has been confirmed that 4:44 is also the name of Jay-Z’s new album. (Oh, and the hyphen is back.) The album is Hova’s first new one since 2012’s Magna Carta Holy Grail. It’s out next week on June 30.
Unsurprisingly, 4:44 will be a TIDAL exclusive and released in partnership with Sprint, which is now owns 33% of the streaming service. Details of what that might entail are still forthcoming — though we can safely assume Sprint customers will get it first.
For now, you can check out a short 30-second clip featuring a boxing Mahershala and a new song called “Adnis”.
