Sigur Rós to Release New Album in the Spring

Hot on the heels of their first concert film Inni (check out the gorgeous first ten minutes we profiled the other day), Icelandic post-rock quartet Sigur Rós plan to release a still-untitled sixth record this spring.

Based on the band’s recent comments, difficult initial recording sessions bore new and interesting fruit – "ambient," "introverted," "minimalistic" fruit, a record with what the band’s drummer Orri Pall Dyrason called “a slow takeoff toward something.” It might be far from the crashing, explosive, sublime moments profiled in Inni, but we’re excited to see where the band will go on their first record in four years.

Hear previously unreleased Inni bonus track, “Lúppulagið”.
