Spoon to release new album Hot Thoughts in March

Their first since 2014's They Want My Soul
Publish date:

We just knew Spoon was up to something. These days, bands don’t update their social media profile photos and premiere new material on TV without inciting some new album speculation. Now, they haven't formally announced anything, but they did appear on SiriusXM Volume’s "Debatable" where they inadvertently revealed that their new album would be called Hot Thoughts. March 17 was also thrown around as a possible release date. But it looks like "sometime in March" is as specific as they can get right now. You can listen to the interview here.

The new album would be the first from Spoon since their wonderful 2014 LP They Want My Soul. Since then, the band has premiered a song called "I Ain't the One" on the TV show Shameless. A possible March release for the new album also opens up the possibility of the band playing hometown heroes at SXSW this year. Though that won’t be the first time the band has played Austin in 2017. Earlier this month, Spoon played a "secret" show at Antone’s where they played new material, including a new song called “Hot Thoughts”.
