Album Stream: Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur Russell

Stream Red Hot's tribute to the cellist and composer.
arthur russell master mix

We've long awaited Red Hot's Master Mix, a tribute to Arthur Russell, the genre-bending cellist and songwriter who passed way of AIDS complications in 1992, if only because Russell's songwriting skills and the mind-boggling array of talented artists turning in covers of his work seems like a too-good-to-be-true combination. You can stream the whole record now - it's a fantastic listen all the way through, though I'm partial to Lonnie Holley's jazz-y, blues-y interludes, Robyn's saucy take on "Tell You (Today)," and Jose Gonzalez' devastating album opener "This is How We Walk on the Moon." Check it out via NPR and/or wait to pick up a physical copy starting October 21st.
