Vampire Weekend’s Baio Shares “Brainwash Yyrr Face”

His solo debut LP is called “The Names”
Publish date:

Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio has been releasing baeleric-flavored dance music under his surname for a few years now—just see his pair of EPs: 2012’s Sunburn and 2013’s Mira—but he’s only now getting around to releasing a full length album. Today he’s announced that it’s coming on September 18 and that it’ll be called The Names. Literary buffs will notice that Baio has borrowed the title from Don DeLillo’s 1982 novel. Baio has also shared the album’s first single, “Brainwash Yyrr Face”. You can listen to that below.

A little while back, Baio described the songs on his album as, “Bowie and Ferry-influenced pop songs and dumbsmart arena techno.” Today, in a press release, he elaborated:

The Names is a record that has reverberated through my mind for much of the last five years. Its themes began to take shape when I moved from New York to London in 2013. Today I'm delighted to share the first track of a record that I think is pretty tight!
