No, this is not an Owen Pallett cover. Nor does it sound much like Stephen Wilkinson aka Bibio at first either, not at least evocative of the chillwave/dream pop candescence that comprised of 2009's amicable Ambivalence Avenue. "Take Off Your Shirt" from the Briton's latest, Mind Bokeh, is a bass driven, guitar heavy rock anthem, and apparently a tribute to Irish hard rockers Thin Lizzy. There are indeed ample mysterious 60s sounding riffs and guitar melodies apparent, but there is much speculation afloat regarding if the entire record will sound like this. Wilkinson recently claimed that the album is “the balance of the familiar and the non-familiar.” Interesting. Mind Bokeh, the producer's second proper album for Warp Records, is out March 29.
