Good news, Internet: you can now listen to another track—out of over 200!—Carly Rae Jepsen recorded for Emotion. This one is called “Cut to the Feeling” and it’s been repurposed for inclusion in the soundtrack to Ballerina, an animated film featuring Jepson.
You’ll have to endure a little bit of terrible film dialogue—“That really is... my girlfriend!”—but the song is pure gold. I really can’t remember the last album as good as Emotion that had enough unused recorded material for a stellar, nearly full-length B-sides collection, and then still have enough goods for random film soundtracks. Jepsen says she wrote an unbelievable 250 songs for Emotion, and by my count, we‘ve only heard 26 of them. 28, if you believe her “It Takes Two” (with Lil Yachty) and “Last Christmas” covers could’ve been recorded for the album. We could theoretically be hearing music from the vault for a while. I, for one, am more than ready for a 12-disc version Emotion.
